DVD Review: Shut Up & Sing

This documentary follows the Dixie Chicks from 2003, when lead singer Natalie Maines said they were ashamed that President Bush is from Texas, until 2006 when their most recent album was released (same one that just took home five Grammy's). The Chicks were in Britain when Maines made that comment and they were immediately criticized by the American media, with an ultra-conservative right wing political organization leading the way. Country radio stopped playing their music and many of their fans trashed their album. Before their Dallas, TX concert, Maines received a "credible" death threat.

The Chicks took a break and in 2005 they moved to Los Angeles to begin writing and recording their new album (Taking The Long Way) and the documentary chronicles how the songwriting process opened up old wounds again, but also helped them to begin healing.

My favorite moment in the film is when a protestor (yes, people actually protested outside their concerts) says directly into the camera, "I'm all for freedom of speech, but for God's sake don't do it on foreign soil and don't do it in public." It's so ironic that the people who send our boys and girls to war in the name of freedom and liberty are the exact same people who do not believe in true freedom of speech - they only support speech that is in line with their own beliefs. They don't seem to realize that it is the kind of speech that no one wants to hear that is most strongly protected and what we're fighting for. Until we can acheive true freedom in America we probably shouldn't be shoving our "democracy" down other peoples' throats.

Gas Guzzlers Pay Up

A Northern California lawmaker wants Californians to pay as much as $2,500 extra to buy gas-guzzling muscle cars, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks.
And he wants to use that money to cut the prices of new hybrids and other cars that go farther on a gallon of fuel and pump fewer carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

Isn't this a great idea? SUV-owners are bitching and whining about how they shouldn't be punished just because they "need" a larger car. PLEASE! Drive a minivan! Get a station wagon! I know it may not be as attractive as the tank you're maneuvering on the 405 but those five kids you're toting around won't have a planet to live on if you continue to damage the earth so recklessly. Californians are not off-roading, we're not driving on giant boulders or trying to cross rivers on our way to work, so no one NEEDS a monster truck. I can see how a construction company might need to provide pickups that can tow (and they can pay the surcharge) but regular people do not need such huge vehicles. I've been in plenty of SUVs and most of them aren't even that much roomier! These are the type of people who are against the law:

In Sacramento, Renee Cochran, a Ford Mustang-owning state worker, said she was not eager "to give my money to someone else if I want to buy a big car to go camping or to drag a boat."

Renee is really dragging a BOAT with her Mustang? I don't friggin' think so. What a lying, stupid hussy.

Plus, I think it's an incentive to car companies to start producing larger vehicles that have reasonable gas mileage and lower CO2 emissions. The technology is available; car manufacturers are just in cahoots with Big Oil to keep Americans hooked on gas.

I really hope this law passes.

Oprah's Leadership Academy

Anyone watch the Oprah special last night? I used to LOVE Oprah. I would watch her show whenever I could and thought the world of her. Then she made Their Eyes Were Watching God with Halle Berry and I came to the conclusion that she was full of shix. After that, I lost a lot of respect for her because I saw that she obviously did't understand how important it is to stay true to the character in the book. Sure, change the setting or alter the plot a little, but to completely change the character at his/her core is an insult to the author.

Anyway, I still get suckered into watching her show or specials and last night was no exception. I'm going to admit that a lot of my admiration for Oprah returned after seeing how much effort she put into building that leadership academy for girls in South Africa. I know a lot of people griped about her not building a school in America, but I can see why she was drawn to build it in another country. Those girls fight for their education and they truly value it. They have big dreams and I'm sure many of them have bright futures because they will cherish the opportunity Oprah has given them. American's just don't value education the way they should.

One of the most touching moments was when a girl asked Oprah a practical question: If she was accepted into the school and did well, would she be able to go on to college and who would pay for it? Oprah said, "I will" and the girl started crying.

The whole show was pretty much one big sob fest. I cry very easily and those girls really tugged at my heart-strings. Oprah hopes to change the world by educating girls. There were definitely times when you say, "Oh please...could you be more full of yourself right now, O?" but the bottom line is that she is doing something good for those girls.

Britney's Early Diagnosis

The doctors at Promises (rehab center for the stars) have made an early diagnosis on what may be the cause of Britney's meltdown.
Sources tell TMZ that Britney's doctors have two operating theories -- either that she suffers from post-partum depression or bipolar disorder. The doctors strongly believe post-partum is the problem.
If this is the case then I think it's very sad that no one around her (especially her mother) saw the signs and tried to get her help before she completed broke down. After my sister had her first baby (and her second) everyone around her was very aware to look for signs that she was feeling depressed and/or overwhelmed. Anytime she seemed blue we jumped in and lended an extra hand or asked if she wanted a break or to talk.

We're told doctors believe Spears' problem is complicated by an intense feeling on her part that she has lost control of her life.
Okay, now I feel really sympathetic towards Britney. I hope she gets the help she needs. I knew someone who suffered from serious post-partum depression and her husband, who is very religious, chalked it up to her not praying enough and being self-indulgent. When he finally consented to her seeing a psychiatrist, the shrink suggested that the husband needed to help out more with household chores and with the new baby (their third) and that her depression was aggravated by a feeling like she was raising their kids all alone. Hubby immediately stopped attending the sessions and made the wife feel guilty for even thinking that her problem could be cured by medicine. While she was in this depressed period, she was extremely susceptible to feeling like everything was her fault, to believing whatever her husband told her; she had no confidence in her own thoughts and feelings - she was unable to make any decisions on her own.

I can see how Britney wound up in this situation. Her second pregnancy wasn't planned so as much as she loves the baby, there could be some residual resentment that her career was being damaged by the timing of it all. If she started feeling depressed almost right after she had the baby, it definitely could have affected her marriage. Once her marriage feel apart, she started partying and dated the guy who eventually sold her out for $100K. Anyway, it's pretty obvious that something more than just drinking too much is at the root of her problems.

PINK = Man

I told y'all that Pink does not qualify as a female. I saw her once in Las Vegas and she totally grossed me out. No woman's pelvic area that looks like that. Only men have that.

Grey's Anatomy - Super Annoying

Spoiler Alert: If you are not caught up with the third season of Grey's do NOT read this post.

Last night Grey's Anatomy was so annoying and stupid and such a waste of time! We all knew the liklihood of Meredith dying was slim to none and I found the whole "heaven" scenes so unbelievable and cliche. Plus all the Meredith "crying" - aka crazy sucking-in-air noises - was irritating. I'm very disappointed in the show right now.

Here's what the co-writer of the show, Marti Noxon, blogged about this episode:
It was a challenge to write and shoot for so many reasons. Not in a digital-ferry-crashing-into-a-digital-dock way, but still… This, again, wasn’t a typical Grey’s. Half of it takes place… where? In Meredith’s head? In Heaven? We decided, for obvious reasons, not to get too specific. And we knew Meredith had to go on a journey. But, get it wrong and it’s “Touched by an Icy Blue Surgeon.” And Denny and Dylan? I’m supposed to touch the sacredness of Denny and Dylan? I think not. All will agree that I basically punted that stuff.
Yeah, well, Marti - you got it wrong. Very wrong. It WAS "Touched by an Icy Blue Surgeon" and it sucked butt. You should never be allowed to write for Grey's again. Apparently the head writer/creator Shonda was too sick (something about being anemic) to finish the third part. It WAS her idea to do all the dead/heaven stuff, but maybe if she could have finished writing, it would have been better. We'll never know and now this stupid, trite episode is cemented into Grey's history forever.

The only bright spot was Sandra Oh's performance. Cristina was the only believable, true character in the show last night. McDreamy was okay too, but his reaction to her waking up was a little bit of a letdown considering how concerned and anxious he had been. They just have that stupid your-mother-is-dead conversation. AND can I just say that the Ellis-Meredith goodbye scene was sooooooo lame. It was so predictable and cheesy. Ugh, I really hated this episode!

I did love the Denny-Izzie moment at the end, but Izzie is just pushing her luck with George. What does she want him to do? I'm all for being honest with your friends, but her "I believe" speech was a little too much at the most inappropriate time. And now that she's told him how she feels she needs to let it go and be nice and happy for George and Callie.

Shonda and team better make this right. And never do the death-in-your-head thing again. Ever.

Britney Re-re-rehabs

I guess Britney has entered Malibu's Promises rehabilitation center for the second time (her third stint in rehab this week). Do you think she has a drug/alcohol problem or is it more of a mental instability such as a nervous breakdown? I'm sure she's using alcohol/partying as a way to hide from her problems, but I really think it's the stress of her failing career and the general disarray of her life that's causing her to freak out. She was so successful and she's just become the laughingstock of the whole world. Everyone she knows uses her to profit in their own way, including the father of her children, her ex-boyfriends and even the sleezy people who own the salon where she shaved her head. I feel very sorry for her.

Grey's Anatomy Spin Off?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that ABC (Disney Co) has greenlit a spin off based on Addison! The two-hour pilot is scheduled to air around May. What do we think of this??

In a bold move that could bring in millions of dollars in new advertising income if it's successful, ABC has decided to pursue a spinoff of the hugely successful medical drama. Departing "Grey's Anatomy" to anchor the new show would be one of its most popular characters: Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, a sexy neonatal-surgeon played by Kate Walsh.
My initial reaction is that I don't like it. I don't know why, but I'm afraid a spin-off will somehow ruin Grey's. Hmm...

American Idol

I normally refrain from watching American Idol b/c I think the show sucks now, but there was nothing else on yesterday so I tuned in. I gotta say, the boys were pretty lame. Some people think that I should root for Paul Kim, just because he's Asian, but I don't believe in doing that. Instead, I pity-voted for Sundance because he was absolutely terrible last night and I think he can do better.
Plus, it totally irritates me when Asians wear blue/green/purple contacts (and die their hair blond). I find it somewhat offensive, even though that's pretty silly considering I wear make-up and stuff to "enhance" my own features. But it's seems different somehow to change your appearance so drastically and so obviously. We all know Asians do not have blue eyes (and no one has purple eyes) or blond hair - why do they feel the need to conform to the anglo-saxon idea of beauty/attractiveness? So no vote for Paul Kim until he rocks his natural eye color with pride.

Congratulations!

We found out last night that Allen passed a very difficult test. He was really worried that he wouldn't, but I knew he could do it. I'm really proud of him and we're going to celebrate this weekend. Yay!

President's Day Weekend Update

Since I've been sick for the past week, I didn't really have the energy for a crazy long weekend. Instead, I spent most of it lounging about in my pj's, watching DVDs and playing sudoku.

Friday
I can not for the life of me remember what we did on Friday night. Maybe watched some telly? I really have no clue.

Saturday
We ran some errands - went to Costco, got my oil changed. That reminds me: all those reports you hear about chains like EZ Lube and Jiffy Lube ripping you off - they're true. The "mechanic" who was helping us at EZ Lube was trying to convince me to get my 30,000 mile tune-up. He spews some bullshix about how it's normally over $500 but since it's President's Day Weekend, he'll give me 30% off. He proceeds to show me on this ancient computer screen (still running DOS, I think) and he's adding up all the different services. For some reason he thinks I'm either blind or illiterate because he adds in no less than three oil change services. He has multiple charges for the same service and shows me the total - a whopping $578. Then he's like, "Now lookie here, I'm gonna give you a discount" and he just removes all the duplicated services. The total drops down to $468. Do people actually fall for tricks like that? I mean, come on! Why wouldn't he just take off 30% if that's the deal he was offering? Anyway, I think it's fine to go to those chains for oil changes because they're fast and convenient. But even if they say your car will explode if you don't get something fixed right then, do NOT believe them! Take it to a real mechanic and always get a second opinion.

After that we went back home and watched Office Space. I LOVE that movie. My favorite part is the beginning when they're all stuck in traffic. Ron Livingston's character (Peter Gibbons) keeps trying to switch lanes b/c he sees them moving, but every time he does this his lane stops and the lane he used to be in starts moving. Don't you hate that? If you haven't seen this, or even if you watched it a long time ago, you have to rent it.

We also stopped by the promenade and I bought some jeans at GAP. They weren't exactly what I wanted, but I bought them anyway b/c I think they minimize the enormity of my ass.

Sunday
Went to the dutch town, Solvang. I hated it as much as the first time
I went. I thought that maybe I'd like it more now that I'm an adult
and not stuck on a bus with 50 Chinese tourists for two weeks, but no, the town still sucks. It's just a big tourist trap. Everything is overpriced and there's nothing to do or see. I did end up buying a new teeny, tiny glass piggy for my collection, but that's it. We bought a couple danishes to go and they were good, but nothing spectacular. I'm sure VJJ could make something better. Don't be fooled by this cute picture. It's not worth the two-hour drive.

Monday
We caught a morning showing of Music & Lyrics. It's a sappy, run of the mill romantic comedy. It wasn't a great movie by any means, but we both enjoyed it. It's an easy movie to watch and makes you happy. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore are both totally adorable.

Britney Shaves Her Head

Brit, I told you to give your hair a rest, not lay it to rest!

The poor girl's gone mad. I think it's just too much pressure and she must feel like everything she does is wrong (she kind of has a point) so now she's just freaking out. I wish her the best of luck and hope that nothing tragic happens to her. At this point, it's just hair, but who knows what else she's capable of if she's not mentally healthy.

DVD Review: Half Nelson

Ryan Gosling's performance in Half Nelson earned him a Best Actor nomination from the Academy. I've been wanting to see the film since it was out in theaters but never got the chance. We finally watched it on DVD yesterday and I have to say that it wasn't exactly what I expected. Basically, it's about a teacher with a drug habit who forms an unlikely friendship with one of his students after she discovers his secret.

When it's over you kind of feel like nothing happened. Nothing spectacular or dramatic happens - it just kind of ends. It's not a bad film and I appreciated how it avoided anything cliche or cheesy, but I don't know why it got "Two BIG Thumbs Up."

I highly doubt Gosling will win. If you like him, you should check out The Believer - his acting is phenomenal and the film is more engaging.

My Pigs

Some of you (Biddy) have been very curious to see my piggy collection. I was somewhat under the weather when I took these photos. I was too tired and lazy to move them or make a little piggy studio so they're just sitting on top of my desk. And the light isn't very good. But anyway, you'll get the picture. If I feel up to it, i'll try to take individual pics of my favorite piggys and post those later. Feel free to contribute to my piggy collection!

Anna Nicole Smith: Final Update

I know I said I'd continue to update as news trickles in, but to be honest, the whole ANS saga is a little too depressing to me. I know she was no Princess Diana, but the media has treated her life like a joke and there has been no respect shown to her in her death. I don't feel comfortable sitting here picking apart her tragic life. It's unbelievable how many men are coming out saying they are the father of the baby. I mean, come on...how much can you demean yourself for publicity and/or money before you just can't sleep at night anymore?

I stand by my belief that Howard K. Stern is a total creep. There are rumors that ET paid him $1 million for his interview. They are airing the piece, which was filmed during Stern's flight back to the Bahamas to retrieve Dannielynn, in segments this week. I think it's totally sick for anyone to cash in on her death, especially someone who supposedly loved her and who should be grieving. That's all I have to say for now. I'll probably post an update once the father is determined.

Britney Gets Burned

It seems Britney Spears' rebound ex, Issac Cohen, has sold her out. Allegedly, for a nice chunk of money, he has shared all the sordid details about her life, their sexual habits etc. with a London tabloid.

One little bit of dirt: he says he got dizzy making love to her due to the revolving bed and all the mirrors she has surrounding her little love nest.

What a loser. I mean, how fast would the bed be going for him to get dizzy? Warp speed?

It seems Britney needs some solid advice and direction here. Maybe I can be her new life coach? Here would be a few of my tips:

  1. Stop dating losers.
  2. Stop wearing clothes that don't fit you.
  3. Stop wearing clothes that are inappropriate. You can be trendy without being trashy.
  4. Start wearing underwear.
  5. Get back in the studio and out of the clubs.
  6. Figure out who your true friends are and stick by them. Don't become "friends" with celebutards for the press - it will only hurt your image.
  7. Pay a real stylist - you need to give your hair a break, freshen up your make-up and exercise more.
That's all for now.

Toilet Bowl Restaurant

I can totally understand thinking outside of the box as a strategy for drumming up business, but perhaps these folks have taken creativity a little too far?

I don't know about you, but I really don't want my noodles to come served in a mini toilet. I mean, wouldn't you just be thinking that you're eating shix or vomit or some other disgusting bodily expulsion?

The little egg holder is pretty cute though.

The Weekend Update

I'm too lazy to post a detailed blog about my weekend. Let's just say that I know more than I ever wanted to know about WWII and stuffed my face with dim sum.

Oh! I also got a new wallet for the bargain price of $11.99 (and a pen and a utensil set). Meet Monokuro Boo, my latest obsession:

If you are considering buying me any presents, please think about purchasing Monokuro Boo products for me. Especially the cell phone holder. Thanks!

Tyra Banks' Head Is HUGE!

Does Tyra seem totally airbrushed or what? If not, I'm totally amazed that her head is still connected to that itty bitty neck. It looks like someone pasted her regular sized head onto tiny, petite body.

DVD Review: The Marine

Once again, I found myself watching a DVD I had absolutely no interest in just so I could blog about it for you folks. We were hoping to rent Flags Of Our Fathers but Blockbuster was all out, so Allen got this piece of shix instead.

John Cena of WWE "fame" stars in this WWE Films turd of a movie. When a group of diamond theives (the stupidest, sloppiest, most unorganized bunch of nimwits to ever live) are on the run, they kidnap Cena's wife. Cena, of course, takes it upon himself to chase them through the swamps of South Carolina.

Seriously, Cena's character gets blown up at least three times. Super blown up, like someone shoots a tank filled with gas. Does he suffer any injuries? A mild burn? A broken arm? NOTHING! He walks away time and time again without the slightest scratch.

All in all the movie is comprised of unbelievably ridiculous action, painfully cliche dialogue and a glaringly predictable plot. Don't waste your time.

Anna Nicole Smith Dies: Update

Biddy and I just went for our daily walk and see all these news vans and photographers outside the building. Apparently her lawyer, Ronald Rale, works in our building. He was holding a press conference, but we couldn't really hear anything significant except that he just spoke to "Howard" a few minutes ago.

According to TMZ, here's what Rale stated at the press conference:

Attorney Ron Rale, who had been representing Anna Nicole in her paternity battle with Larry Birkhead, tells TMZ there will be a court hearing tomorrow. He says he was contacted by reps for Larry Birkhead and they will go to court to discuss the matter of DNA testing.

Attorney Ron Rale says Anna had been under the weather with "flu-like symptoms" the past week and she "showed signs of a fever" last night. According to Rale, Anna's lawyer-turned-partner Howard K.Stern is at the Miami hospital now and is overwhelmingly distraught.

Anna Nicole Smith Dies

Everyone is already talking about it and it's all over the news: Anna Nicole Smith is dead.
Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN.

Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving."

Already, there are a ton of questions swirling around in my head:
  1. Who is the real father of her baby?
  2. Who killed her 20 y/o son, Daniel?
  3. Did she commit suicide, possibly due to postpartum depression, depression over the death of her son or stress due to the mounting law suits filed against her?
  4. How creepy is Howard K. Stern and how much is he involved in the death of Anna's son and the death of Anna herself?
  5. Why would anyone who truly loved Anna allow her to be so clearly drugged up all the time, unless perhaps HE was the one giving her the drugs?
  6. Why is Larry Birkhead claiming to be the father of the baby?
  7. Why didn't Howard and Anna just submit to the paternity test?
  8. Who administered the lethal dosage of methadone into Daniel's blood stream?

Hopefully more answers will be forthcoming, but for now, I'm convinced Stern is somehow responsible. Here's how it looks to me. Stern's put up with her craziness all these years with the goal of eventually getting his grubby little hands on all of her money. He promotes her drug/alcohol usage so she's unaware of his true intentions. She's obviously not all that bright, and when she realizes she's pregnant with Birkhead's baby, but isn't in the relationship anymore, Stern sees the perfect opportunity. He convinces her to say that he's the father, probably telling her that Birkhead doesn't love her, he's using her etc., then he kills her son so that the only heir would be the baby, which he's legally the father of at that point, then he tells her they have to get married so the world will believe that he's the father. After they marry, his only obstacle is Anna herself so he somehow kills her or gets her to kill herself by overdosing or something.

Weird facts surrounding her death:
  1. The baby is supposedly still in the Bahamas even though Anna was in Florida. Why?
  2. Anna had a nurse with her. Why?
Anna's body has already been moved to the medical examiners office, so I'm sure there will be more news soon.

Shocking Statistic

I was perusing the top stories on Yahoo! News and came across this article. A male-on-male rape suspect has been detained and arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated sexual assault of a man. The police hope to charge him with the rape of four other men.

That's not really the shocking part. What blew my mind was at the end of the article.

The U.S. Justice Department says one in 33 men in the United States has been a victim of a rape or attempted rape, compared with one in six women.
One in SIX women!!! That means that someone you know, most likely, has been the victim of a violent sexual assault. That needs to change people. Somehow, that needs to change.

Bathroom Etiquette Part II

Just wanted to let you all know that when I walked into the first stall today, there was a dried up splash of blood to greet me.

Ted Haggard Says He's Straight

Remember the documentary I reviewed a couple weeks ago called Jesus Camp? There was that minister Ted Haggard who spoke to the President and his advisors every Monday. Some of you may be aware that he recently had to step down as president of the National Association of Evangelicals due to accusations of sexual misconduct.
[Haggard] was also forced out from the 14,000 New Life Church that he founded years ago in his basement after Jones alleged Haggard paid him for sex and sometimes used methamphetamine when they were together. Haggard, who is married, has publicly admitted to "sexual immorality."
Well. After three weeks of "spiritual restoration" at Christ Comfort Ministries International facility, Haggard is convinced he is "completely heterosexual." One of his four ministers released this statement:
"He is completely heterosexual," Ralph said. "That is something he discovered. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn't a constant thing."

I don't know about you, but I don't believe this bullshix one bit. You don't "act out" by paying someone of the same sex to have sex with you just because you're spiritually rebellious. I mean, come on.

You can read the full story here.

WTH Was She Thinking?

Remember Oksana Baiul, Olympic Gold Medal Winner (for ice skating)? Below is what she decided to wear for some Super Bowl party over the weekend. I mean, I can see that the event was hosted by Playboy among other sponsors, but damn...

Here's what I imagine happened: She put on those girdle-type shorts with the polka dots, then, for added sucking-in-strength, she put on her super-sized granny pants. She hooked up her bra and tossed on some jewelry. She was just about to put on her dress when the door rang and her limo had arrived. She realized she was running late and decided that she looked fine just the way she was.

She was sadly, sadly mistaken.

Weekend Update

Friday
Lots of people from work gathered at The Shack to celebrate Sucka MC's birthday. It was nice to see a few old co-workers who have since moved on, and everyone had fun. Surprisingly, there were quite a few children at the bar. I'm one of those people who don't really like seeing kids at events or locations meant for adults. It seems irresponsible and possibly negligent to bring a small child to a place where people are rowdy and drunk.

Saturday
Lounged about for most of the day, ran a few errands and ended up watching the 10.50pm showing of Letters From Iwo Jima.

It starts of somewhat slowly but builds up to be one of the most powerful, yet disturbing films of the year. I am not a queasy person and can watch surgery scenes or people getting killed with absolutely no problems. In Letters there was more than one scene where I literally felt nauseous and sick to my stomach. I don't think it was because it was gory (it really wasn't), but rather that what I was seeing was so hard to accept. I'm looking forward to renting Flags Of Our Fathers this Tuesday.

At home, we watched Who Killed The Electric Car?. It's a documentary that investigates the creation and destruction of the EV1. Ford released the EV1, the first mass-produced, fully electric vehicle, then slowly recalled them and had them crushed for no logical reason. The filmmakers discover numeous reasons for the demise of the zero-emmision car. It's very interesting and you'll probably find yourself going, "Oh yeah...I remember that car. What happened to it?"

Sunday

Watched the Super Bowl of course. I was so excited at the start of the game; it looked like Chicago would be able to hang in there, but alas they couldn't pull it off. Oh well. My favorite commercial was the Snickers one where the two guys "accidentally" kiss and then pull out their chest hair. Haha!

Also went to Bed, Bath & Beyond to buy a new dish rack thingie, measuring cups and fruit basket. I love buying new stuff for the house.

Gross...But Amusing

Everyone please check out Sprinkle Brigade's Gallery. Here is a sample of some of their work from the Holiday Collection:

You're Going To Hell

Can you believe this?

A bad day got even worse for a stranded motorist when the purported Good Samaritan who helped dislodge the man's car attacked him and stole the vehicle, police said. The 73-year-old motorist got lost overnight Thursday after leaving the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

After the man crossed the state line into Missouri, his 1996 Buick Park Avenue became stuck in the snow. The suspect approached and offered to help. But once the car was free, the suspect attacked the driver with a box cutter and demanded, "Give me your car," according to a police report.

The suspect fled with the car and $30.

The motorist was taken to a hospital with lacerations to the hands, arms and a possible hip fracture, said Capt. Rich Lockhart, a police spokesman.

No one had been arrested yet, he said.

What an evil, evil man.

Swan Anyone?

City police recently found out a little old Swedish lady was sheltering 11 full-grown swans in her tiny apartment.
"She said she had been looking after the birds in her 25 square meter (270 sq ft) apartment in Stockholm since 2001 after they had been injured. Police took the swans to a shelter and the woman could face charges under animal protection laws."
I don't think she needs to be punished or anything. Swans are very stinky and they must be hard to care for, right? She was probably just lonely and wanted a project to give her life meaning again.
